Substitute School Nurse (LPN or RN) Job no: 520450 Work type: On Campus Location: Normal, Illinois Division Name: Academic Affairs Department: Thomas Metcalf School Job Summary The Substitute School Nurse will fill in when the Metcalf School Nurse is out. The position will include taking care of health needs of students in PK-8th grade during the school day, communicating with parents when necessary, and following the sub guidelines set in place by the school nurse. Salary Rate / Pay Rate $25.00 per hour Required Qualifications Possession of a valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Illinois OR licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois. Certified in CPR Ability to administer medication Ability to make professionally based judgments within the LPN scope of practice Ability to assess and administer basic first aid in accordance with professional standards Ability to work on short notice during school hours (Monday through Friday, 7:30am-3:00pm) Preferred Qualifications Experience working as a school nurse in an elementary school Work Hours This is an as needed (substitute) position, so hours vary within the following time frame: Monday through Friday, 7:30am-3:30pm Proposed Starting Date ASAP Required Applicant Documents Reference List Valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois Valid CPR certification Please Note : These documents are required to be submitted online in order to complete the application process. Employees are only paid for hours worked and do not qualify for most benefits including health insurance and retirement, with Illinois State University. However, Extra Help employees are eligible to participate in the University's supplemental retirement savings plans (403b). Applicable retirement information is provided at the time of hire. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment. In addition, extra help employees may only work up to 900 hours total during their employment.
