Transpo Group is seeking a highly motivated GIS Intern looking to step up their game, who wants to join a dynamic organization with a lot of room for growth. The GIS Intern assists in the preparation of basic engineering GIS analyses and mapping, and preparation of supporting graphics for studies. 

Job Summary: 

This role will support project work across all business units, working with staff at all levels to ensure data is accurately represented in project graphics. The GIS Intern will work at the direction of project managers to complete all requests using the required software and technical skills to produce high quality graphics. This role will also be responsible for project history mapping, basic GIS analysis, database creation and maintenance, and mapping/cartography at the supervisor’s direction.

Technical 

• Knowledge and demonstrated competence using ESRI GIS software suite of products.? Knowledge of additional GIS software is desired but not required – Autodesk Map 3D, Xtools, etc.
• Working knowledge of basic GIS principles, practices, and techniques
• Read and understand the terminology and symbols used in topographic survey maps, GIS, field notes, plans, and aerial photographs to interpret the information for use in planning and designing transportation engineering solutions. 

Communication 

• Be proactive in communicating with the team
• Be curious about what we do and why we do it, ask questions, and view every interaction as a learning opportunity
• Stay in close communication with the supervisor regarding project status and workload 

Project Management 

• Develop an understanding of the "big picture" and how the tasks that are performed on a daily basis contribute to project success, business goals, and how it fits into engineering/planning in general
• Provide quality control on own work 

Leadership 

• Demonstrate the company values in your work and interactions with others
